INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2019
The ‘Balance for Better’ theme of International Women’s Day 2019 is calling us to focus on
- action for gender balance all over the world
- taking the time to celebrate the women and their achievements that challenge bias
- coming together with open minds and the willingness to accelerate diversity and inclusion
International Women’s Day is not just a women’s issue - it’s also a men’s, government, business, health, media, sport, family, parenting and social issue. It’s for all of us and it’s setting a new standard of equality and potential for our daughters and sons.
It’s all of our responsibility to acknowledge, respect and work towards positive change for the well-being of us together as an entire global community.
For me personally, supporting women to ‘rise up’ is not about being ‘better-than’ men but simply having the entitlements they rightly deserve, one of the most common being - the same pay for the same job! And acceptance that women can study, and be highly successful in male dominated industries. This also means that men can be successful in women dominated industries.
We’ve come a long way, yet there is still so much more to be achieved, and please if this has inspired you, keep the conversation and the energy going within your circles.
